This Self-awareness module is the first one in the Building Girls’ Confidence programme.

For Self-awareness module:

Learning intention: For students to develop their self-awareness through understanding their uniqueness, and how they see themselves.  They will practise identifying and articulating their talents, and how to use their posture to build their confidence. 

Success criteria:

Students will have:

• Understood they are unique in the world
• Gained self-awareness through a fun exercise
• Considered the talents they have and practised expressing this to each other
• Learnt a confidence boost through standing tall

The Building Girls’ Confidence programme has proven popular in schools -  it was the basis of hundreds of live workshops with teen girls in both state and independent schools in the UK. 

Now offered through an online platform to make it available to teachers.

“Self-awareness” is the first of five modules.  This programme is designed to address the issues that teen girls worry about; to empower them to build resourcefulness and life skills.  It encompasses:

• Self-awareness
• Role models and goal-setting (2 lessons in this module)
• Building body confidence
• Expressing ourselves
• How we talk to ourselves

 The price of the Building Girls’ Confidence programme is £195, which gives access to all teachers at one school for 12 months.

The Building Girls’ Confidence programme includes both a stand-alone 2 hour Building Confidence workshop PLUS a series of six 20 minute sessions.  Enabling you to choose whether to:

• Deliver the 2 hour Building Girls' Confidence workshop during drop-down days - avoiding costs and complexities of outside speakers

• Use it as intervention with specific students – boosting their confidence, increasing their motivation and raising their aspirations

• Use the series of 20 minute sessions for form time, PSHE, or in a lunchtime or afterschool club

As the resources are suitable for girls aged 11 to 14, you could use them in in different ways with different year groups…for example…

• Building Girls' Confidence workshop during drop-down day for age 11 girls,
• plus series of sessions as intervention for specific age 13 girls,
• plus use in PSHE for age 12 girls.
